When I was in art school, I was so taken by the lucid imagery in Frank Peretti's book: This Present Darkness, it became my inspiration for these drawings. I composed each scene based on specific lines of text. I then hired a bodybuilder classmate of mine to pose for each demon/angel for photo reference. I took a lot of liberties and exaggerated the lighting, muscle structure, and poses to achieve the look I wanted. Much of my appreciation for comic book artists & illustrators like Frank Frazetta shows through a bit here. The media is charcoal on 20"x 30" white Strathmore Charcoal paper.
